I started this event back in 2002, when a similar local event had proved diificult to get into and out of the 2 previous years. What started as a small bunch of 50 or so, mainly Yank & Hot Rod owners, meeting up in one car park has evolved into the massive event it is now ( averaging 6 -700 Cars, 200 plus Bikes & 3 car parks !! ). The event has now become one of the largest meets of it's kind on the south coast, a popular event for Romsey locals and the highlight of many classic vehicle owners' Christmas's!
It is and always was my intention that the event be free entry to both vehicle owners & spectators alike but the personal costs to host it started to spiral as the event grew in popularity & in 2007 the U.K's leading specialist vehicle insurers
...became sponsors of the event & their financial support has been invaluable in both helping me continue to run it & keep it as free entry. Since the events inception we have always had a collection for charity, & the event has raised thousands of pounds for charities such as Macmillan, Wessex Cancer & N.S.P.C.C amongst others. For this last 7 years, due to it's tremendous popularity as a charity choice, we have collected for PROSTATE CANCER UK and have so far raised over £14,000 for them alone.
Whilst the charity collection and the amazing numbers of spectators attending the event are a huge & fun part of it's make up, the event was started for & still is organised for classic vehicle owners, the show is a place for them to get together in winter time when not so many shows are on, and they remain my priority & the show remains theirs.
I hope you'll enjoy your look around here, be sure to check out our fantastic "Pic Galleries" for photos from previous years, Andy Windibank's brilliant video shorts of our 2012 & 2013 events & for full classification
