I started this event back in 2002, when a similar local event had proved difficult to get into and out of, the 2 previous years. What started out as a small bunch of 50 or so mainly American cars, meeting up in one car park, has evolved into the massive event it is now ( averaging 6 -700 Cars,  250 plus Bikes !! ) covering 3 car parks.

The event became an event solely for "PRE 1973" vehicles in it's 2nd year ( the free car road tax year for classics at that time ) but that cut off was extended to "PRE 1976" ( & including 1976 ) when we gained use of another car park in 2010 ( the current  "PRE & including 1986 American" classification applies, as a concessionary nod to what was an "ALL YEAR American" classification those first few years & because late 70's & early 80's Vettes, Trans Ams etc, are still very popular viewing for a lot of spectators & fellow vehicle owners.). The HUGE numbers of eligible year vehicles that attend, restricts us from extending the cut off years further sadly !

It was always my intention that the event be free entry to both vehicle owners & spectators alike but the personal costs to host it started to spiral as the event grew in popularity & in 2007 the U.K's leading specialist vehicle insurers

...became sponsors of the event & their financial support has been invaluable in both helping me continue to run it & keeping it as free entry. Since the events inception we have always had a collection for charity, & the event has raised thousands of pounds for charities such as Macmillan, Wessex Cancer & N.S.P.C.C  amongst others. For this last 10 years, due to it's tremendous popularity as a charity choice, we have collected for PROSTATE CANCER UK and have so far raised over £23,000 for them alone. I started this event for fellow classic vehicle owners ( never expecting spectators ) & those classic vehicle owners remain my priority, but the amazing number of spectators that attend the event & the raising money for charity are now a huge & fun part of it's make up.

I hope you'll enjoy your look around here, be sure to check out our fantastic "Pic Galleries" for photos from previous years, ( 2015 onwards can be found here https://www.flickr.com/photos/137205637@N08/ ) & also Andy Windibank's brilliant video shorts of our 2012, 2013, 2014,2015 & 2016 events. Please remember ... if your vehicle doesn't fit our well advertised categories please park responsibly elsewhere in the town, thank you!
