Hi & welcome to ROMSEY'S ANNUAL BOXING DAY CLASSIC CAR & BIKE MEET.
I started the event back in 2002 as a casual kind of get together for enthusiasts & it has grown & grown each year with 2011 attracting between 600 & 700 cars & 200 bikes!! The meet is a FREE entry event to both vehicle owners & public alike, funded by me up to 2006 but helped greatly since by generous sponsorship from Specialist Car Insurers -
ADRIAN FLUX
Adrian Flux's help has proved invaluable in expanding & promoting the event & also helped a great deal regards the ever increasing running costs.
Over the years we have collected for various charities, such as the N.S.P.C.C, WESSEX CANCER TRUST, MACMILLAN CANCER SUPPORT. These last 4 years, due to it's popularity as a charity choice, we have continued to collect for -
THE PROSTATE CANCER CHARITY
a very worthy charity that doesn't get lots of attention & a lovely charity to work with & collect for. It is my intention that the event ALWAYS remains a free event & the only thing I ask of visitors is that, if they can afford to, they give a little to our chosen charity.
Enjoy your look around here, be sure to have a look at the galleries of previous year's events, from the humble & wet beginnings to the massive & fortunately mainly drier meets of the last few years!
Perhaps we'll see you this coming Boxing Day, 26th December 2012, from 9a.m til 1p.m when it WILL happen again. Regards, Steve B.

Hi, and a big thanks to everyone for putting on a great show, was my first time there and had a great time, some great vehicles, great atmosphere, good food..... and, bumped into some old friends too!!!!! loved it !!!! As for the nobs who obviously cant read, or understand criteria... I find a swift smack between the eyes and sit them on their arse... usually has the desired effect lol.. If your looking for volunteers for next year give me a shout !!! Thanks again..
many thanks again to everyone who helped to organise another great event.
Brilliant turnout and a great mix which makes this show so enjoying.
Although I turned up in my Pontiac TransAm again this year do you think there will be room for my 2001 Freelander as well next year? It's rare, honest ;-)
Happy New Year guys, well done.
Superb turn out today and a fantastic show. Just hope that the massive success doesn't bring its own problems. There was a great atmosphere and a wide variety to cater for all tastes. Just sorry I had to witness you having to explain to some moron (politely) that this was a charity event and clearly advertised as for pre 1976 only. Why do they bother to come? I saw hundreds of others enjoying themselves. You do a great job, please keep it up. Maybe next year you could find a 7 foot 18 stone bruiser to walk around carrying a "complain here" sandwich board?? A great show, well done.
Great show, massive turnout of people who can actually read!! Don't let 'em grind you down mate, BIG cheers for your efforts.
Another great turnout for this years meet, so well attended that space for exibhitors was at a premium. With the public tuning out in force as well this must make it one of the best FREE events in the south all year. I hope that you manage to raise plenty for the Prostate Cancer Charity. Keep up the good work and here`s looking to 2012....
I just don`t understand some people`s logic,if you don`t like the criteria set for a show then don`t go.. There seems to have been a lot of this with various events this year such as the Hotrod Drags & Hayride, organisers put a hell of a lot of time effort & money into putting on an event for the vehicles they would like to see there so why bother bitching if your car doesn`t fit in?We`ll be coming along again in the Minx, see you in the morning!
Thank you folks for your kind comments, I appreciate it and it lets me know I am doing the right thing. The irony is that if Mr Stevens had bothered to take a closer look at this site not only would he have seen the practical reasons for the Pre 1976 classification but also that by prior arrangement, via a simple email through here, something like the 80's RS200 would have most likely been welcome! Shame he never looked at our 2011 poster page........
: to M. Stevens if you feel so strongly - get off your bum, spend your time & energy organising a Charity event for no profit - for cars you & your other 'like-minded' people - stop trying to gate crash somonelses party - organise your own!
M Stevens.
Why? Why do you feel the need to do this? Steve throws a large amount of time and money at this event every year for the enjoyment of thousands. If you don't understand the basics, just don't come. Simple really. Just show a bit of thoughtfulness and don't piss the organiser off with inane comments in the Season of Goodwill. Not too hard really, is it?
Well M Stevens, tomorrow when you'll be probably having a nice time please think of Mr B spending a couple of hours of his own time putting up signs, running around & preparing for thousands of people to turn up to ENJOY themselves on Boxing Day.Hope you have a great time in Wickham.
Glad to hear you are going to Wickham Mr M Stevens. Hopefully your lovely 80's car may attract away the prats who caused all the grief over the last few years, so that the lovers of actual CLASSIC cars can get on with it peacefully at Romsey....although I don't think Wickham regulars would thank you. They had enough shopping hatchbacks abandoned in the square last year.
As suggested perhaps you could start your own event in a Halfords car park or perhaps MacDonalds.
Keep your chin up Steve - we love and appreciate what you do. Be there in my 1947 car - I think my 1962 is a bit too modern :-)
Hi Steve,
looking forward to another great show of CLASSIC cars this year, and hope to bring my car along, albeit looking a little worse for wear this year!
Feel free to ask the passengers for some Mulled Wine when you smell it wafting across the car parks.
I might even venture across to the Waitrose Car Park to view the modern cars with Mr Stevens 8^(
Hope all goes well and no one gives problems with the entry criterior.
C'mon, M Stevens...
It's not about agreeing or disagreeing.
It's about the dateline that's been set by the organiser.
If it suits you, you go. If it doesn't, you don't.
Simple.
You're lucky to have a collection of classics so, if you want to support the event, why not choose to bring the one that fits?
Or just stay quiet if you don't.
Merry Christmas.
To M Stevens..........
It's very simple, if you don't care for the way this show is arranged simply stay away as you will not be made welcome.....
Go organise your own event and see if you can make it the focal point of a good sized town on Boxing Day....I wish you the best of luck in achieving such an event!
Mr B - there are thousands of people that love the event that you and your team arrange, whether they are car enthusiasts or people who just need to be out and clear the cobwebs away on Boxing Day....all of us will continue to support you and your team fully in the event and those that bring their fabulous vehicles to the show.
Keep it up, please!
before posting your negative post mr stevens
did you even read the critria, its CLASSIC not rare,
proberly best you go to wickham so no one has to
lisen to you moaning ang whinging why they try
to enjoy themselfs.
Don't be a dick M Stevens. The show is beginning to outgrow the space available and there needs to be a cut off point. There are plenty of other bigger shows where the criteria includes newer cars.
Mr Stevens, if you had bothered to read the website and the fact that Romsey is a small town not a city, you will have read that we have limited space for approximately 4 - 500 cars and that I have already increased the classification year from 1973 - 1976 but space restricts us from doing so any further. I do feel 1893 - 1976 is quite a spread of vehicle years and that that 83 years probably holds a lot more interesting vehicles than the short time period you are splitting hairs over.
Enjoy Wickham, and if you do not enjoy that, can I suggest you start your own free admission to all show for post 1976 cars, spend hours working on it from May onwards each year, throw your own money at it for ten years ..................... only to have someone with say a 58 Buick get arssy with YOU on Christmas Eve by not liking YOUR "party" criteria.
Sadly I dissagree your no 80s or 90s ruling as some stuff from then is getting rare now and if we are going to attract young enthusiast to our hobby then you should cater for them. But its your party... soooo Wickham it is ! ( for the record I own vehicles from the 50s 60s and 90s) and wonder would you turn away a Ford RS200 from the 80,s away ?
Steve,
Keep your chin up about the mouthbreathers.Sadly the fact they're turning up is driectly proportionate to your success! I'm happy to escort any to the nearest river!
I sent you a message on Farcebook
Cheers Tom, official start is 9am but cars arrive from 830 to be honest but would advise a pre 10am arrival for a good spot. Safe journey.

Dont know if my vehicle would be welcome but if so we would like to bring our 1992 Ford Econoline E350 XLT Super Duty, 7.5ltr V8, 1.6 to the litre on LPG. It would be a round trip of 320 miles or so, but looks like a great day out. Currently off the road with a transmission problem but if back in time would love to come up.
Great Web Site.

A great family day out with something for everyone, well done guys, see you at the next one.
Well done you guys, didnt get to this one in person but have read the write ups on it. You do a fantastic job for worthwhile causes. hope to see you this year.
Great day out. The crowds were impressive and gave me a chance to get away from the turkey and mince pies. Thanks to all and looking forward to later this year! Chris and Family and Annie Lennox's van FREEDOM.
Well done again Steve! To be able to have this good a day for a few quid in a very worthwhile charity bucket is a rare thing indeed....Just a huge bunch of folks being able to have an excuse to drive their favourite cars - what could be better than that? I know you do this for NOTHING (and the other guys too). Let's all keep this great day running forever! Trevor & Glenda
Very well put together site, and if these guys are willing to give up they`re boxing day to put this show for for everyone to enjoy and also for charity then it should be attended by all in 2009........hats off to all involved.......HAVE A HAPPY 2009...............TOAD
